Lions' football squad records 31-7 win at Manchester College
The College of Mount St. Joseph allowed just a punt return TD today, and behind their productive and efficient offense, rolled to a 31-7 win at Manchester College, claiming the automatic qualifier from the HCAC into the NCAA Division III playoffs. The Mount, 8-0 overall, 6-0 in the HCAC, finishes conference play on Nov. 7 when they host Defiance College. The win enables the Mount to claim a least a share of the conference title.

The Lions jumped out to a 17-7 lead at the half, thanks to a 23-yard field goal, and touchdowns by Derick Tabar (Cincinnati, OH/Colerain), on a 24-yard reception from Craig Mustard (Mason, OH/Mason) and a four-yard run by Jake Davis (Cincinnati, OH/Anderson). Mustard tossed two more TDs in the second half, one to tight end Rob Blundred (Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hills) and another to Tabar as the Lions blanked the Spartans in the second half.

Mustard was 12-of-20 for 277 yards, three TDs and no interceptions. Tabar hauled in four passes for 130 yards and two TDs. The Mount out-gained Manchester in total yards, 362-250.

Erik Prosser (Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hills) had a game-high 13 tackles and a sack while Randall Mitchell (Columbus, OH/Eastmoor Academy) added a sack. Cory Hardin (Fairborn, OH/Fairborn) and Vince Smith (Middletown, OH/Middletown) each recorded interceptions
