Location: Wilmington, OH (Williams Stadium)
The Lions faced Wilmington College in a challenging matchup. Mount St. Joseph was able to keep the game close until a large second quarter by Wilmington to take a demanding lead. The Lions were unable come back from this deficit and lost to Wilmington 28-9.
How it Happened:
Mount St. Joseph was able to stay competitive in the first quarter only trailing by 3 with Wilmington in the lead 6-3. The Lions were able to score when Connor McPhail (Nashville, TN/ Father Ryan) got to the net after an assist from Jesse Purdy (Lexington, KY). Kevin McClanahan (Madeira, OH) and Jesse Purdy were also able to score for the Lions in the first quarter. The Lions struggled in the second quarter as Wilmington was able to get to the net 12 times before halftime. The Lions went into the locker room down 18-5. In the second half the Lions struggled to decrease the deficit. They were able to score four more times but it wasn't enough as they were defeated by Wilmington with a final score of 28-9. Connor McPhail led the team in scoring with 3 of the Lions goals.
