The Lions fall in season openner

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Lions opened up their season opener last night against Quakers of Wilmington College. The Quakers got on the board first and ended the half with 2 goals. The Quakers were able to keep their momentum roiling into the 2nd half in which they scored 3 more goals to bring the final score to 5-0.

Early on the Lions played good defense but the Quakers were moving very quickly offensively and were able to get the first goal. Freshman goalkeeper Gustavo Gutierrez (Montclair, Cali./Boone Co.) made some key saves to keep the game close going into halftime. As the 2nd half began the Quakers scored quickly bringing the lead to 3-0. Shortly after The Mount fired back with some shots on goal but none of them found the net. The Mount couldn't stop the Quakers' momentum as they were able to score another pair of goals before full time was finished up with a final score of 5-0.

Next up the Lions will face Ohio Christian on Sat. 9/7 here at Schueler Field (Cincinnati, Ohio), kickoff is at 6PM.
