Cincinnati, Ohio - In a Friday afternoon matchup the Lions met the Tigers of Grace Christian (Mich.) at Schueler Field. The Tigers took the lead quickly scoring two goals in the first half and the Lions had no response offensively. The Lions kept them off the board in the second half but the Lions couldn't find the net after 90 minutes passed which ended with a 2-0 Lions loss.
The Tigers struck quickly with a lobbed pass into the box which was then headed over the keeper's head in the 6th minute of play which set the score to 1-0. The Lions almost immediately had an answer with a powerful shot by Senior Nathan Schmeusser from the edge of the box but the Tigers' keeper made a fantastic diving stop. Shortly after the Lions gave up another opportunity to Grace Christian to add on to their lead by surrendering a penalty kick in the 17th minute. Grace Christian's Dylan DeVries aimed for the bottom left corner but goalkeeper Gustavo Gutierrez was able to stretch and make the save to keep the deficit at 1-0. Grace Christian then flooded the goal with shots and in the 38th minute they were able to find the net extending their lead to 2-0. The Lions defense stepped up their game in the second half and didn't allow a goal. The Lions were ale to get shots off more frequently in the second half with 11 of the 15 shots occurring in the second half but none were able to find the net. As the second half came to a close the Lions fell to the Tigers 2-0.
