CINCINNATI, Ohio - On another muggy night at Schueler Field your Mount St. Joseph Lions hosted the Panthers of Hanover College. The Lions are coming off a tightly contested matchup versus Defiance this past weekend and were hoping to get back to their winning ways at home.
The match started off slow for the Mount, but their defense stood strong. Hanover flooded the net with shots. Within the first 30 minutes of play Hanover had 9 shots 6 of them on target and one found the net in the 29th minute to give Hanover a 1-0 lead. The Mount's defense held strong though and at the half the score was still 1-0. At halftime goalkeeper Nathaniel Chambers (Cincinnati, Ohio/ McNicholas) registered an amazing 12 saves and in the second half he would only add to that total. As the second half kickoff was underway the Mount's defense continued to shine. Hanover kept their offense active though and eventually in the 73rd minute Hanover was able to sneak another goal in and give the Panthers a 2-0 lead. The Mount tried to climb back in the game with a vicious strike from sophomore David Crosby (Richmond, Ky./ Model Laboratory) but the keeper was able to make the save. After 90 minutes of play the Lions ended up dropping the game to the Panthers 2-0. Goalkeeper Nathaniel Chambers had a spectacular game registering a total of 17 saves on the day while posting a phenomenal .895 save percentage.
