The Lions (5-4-1) split a double-header with previously unbeaten Otterbein University(11-1), dropping the first game 6-4,but they came back to win the second 7-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
In game one the Lions jumped out to lead scoring 3 in the bottom of the first inning. With Paige Kiesewetter driving in a run and Sierra Syndor knocked in 2. Otterbein was able to take advantage of some control issues by the Lions starter, Kiesewetter who walked 4 batters in her 4.1 innings of work. The Lions threatened in both the 6th and 7th innings, but were eluded by that big hit.
Morgan Hoehn was the standout offensively for the Lions, as she went 3 for 4 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored.
The second game saw the Lions take down the previously unbeaten Cardinals, and they did so on the strength of a solid pitching performance by Danielle Nichelson. Nichelson threw a complete game only allowing 2 runs while scattering 7 hits.
Offensively the Lions were paced by leadoff hitter Morgan Kain, who set the table to the tune of a 3 for 4 game. The big blow of the game was delivered by Claire Wehby, who drove in 3 runs with a bases loaded double down the right field line.
The Lions will host Adrian College on Saturday for a double-header with games scheduled for 1:00 and 3:00 p.m.
