ANDERSON, IN - The Mount St. Joseph Lions traveled to Anderson University to take on the Ravens in the first game of a double header. The Lions started off behind but they were able to come back and defeat the Ravens with a final score of 77-68!
In the first quarter The Lions held the lead for a good amount of time but the Ravens found a way to grab the lead and leave the Lions trailing by three points. But when the second quarter came around The Mount was able to come back from the deficit and then some. Outscoring the Ravens 23-13. Leading The Mount to have a lead of seven going into halftime with the score 38-31.
In the second half the Lions never lost the lead the lead again. They finished the third quarter with a comfortable lead going into the fourth quarter. The were once again able to keep the lead and grow it by another point leading to The Mount being victorious with a nine point spread and 77-68 final score.
The Lions were able to make positive results out of their competitions mistakes, getting 27 points off of Anderson's turnovers. The two players that lead the Lions offensively were Alehia Tucker (Covington, KY/ Holy Cross) who amounted for 26 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals, and Maddie Haberthy (Cincinnati, OH/ Mercy) who achieved 21 points. Lainee Studer (Pleasant Plain, OH/ Little Miami) also made a splash in the game collecting 15 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, 10 steals and a block! The Lions are on a three game conference streak with hopes of keeping the momentum going.
The Lions next game will be Wednesday, January 23rd at 7:30 PM as the Lions return home to attempt to keep their streak alive as the host the Fightin' Engineers of Rose-Hulman in hopes of redeeming themselves after their loss earlier this season.
