Lions Fall to Earlham

RICHMOND, Ind. - The Mount St. Joseph University women's lacrosse team travelled on Wednesday to take on the Quakers of Earlham College in a HCLC conference match-up. The Lions entered the game off of their first conference win, hoping to add another to their score sheet. In a hard fought competition the Quakers defeated The Lions by a score of 17-6.

The start of the game went back and forth between The Lions and the Quakers as both teams would find the back of the net multiple times. Earlham would score the first goal before The Lions would answer back and get a goal of their own. Megan Dancer (Springboro,Ohio/Springboro) would get The Lions first goal off of a free position shot, tying the game at 1-1. The Quakers would then score back-to-back goals on The Lions, taking a 3-1 lead, as The Mount would continue to fight to stay in the game. Brianna Brannon (Cincinnati,Ohio/Seton) would find the back of the net off of a Megan Dancer assist, brining The Lions within one before Megan Dancer would get her second goal of the game off of another free position shot, tying up the game 3-3. The Quakers would quickly answer back, taking back the lead as they would get two goals back to back, making the score 5-3 in favor of the Quakers. The Lions would give up two more goals before getting their last goal of the half. Joy Glacken (Cleves,Ohio/Taylor) would add her name to The Lions scoring list, as she would get The Mount's 4th goal of the game off a free position shot, trailing the Quakers 4-7. The 1st half would end with the Quakers finding the back of the net two more times as they led The Mount 9-4. 

Gabriella Halfhill (Liberty Township,Ohio/Lakota West) would get the 2nd half started for The Lions, scoring off a free position shot within two minutes to the start of the half. The Lions would then find themselves playing defense for most of the second half as the Quakers would go on a scoring streak, scoring 7 goals before The Lions were able to get a goal. The Lions would get their last goal of the game with less than 6 minutes remaining as Megan Dancer would get herself a hat-trick. Earlham would get one more before the final buzzer went off, ultimately defeating The Lions by a score of 17-6.

The Lions are currently in third place in the HCLC with a 1-1 conference record and a 2-6 overall record. The Lions next game will take place on Saturday, April 13th at home as they take on the Ravens of Anderson University in a conference match-up at 1PM.
