Lions Drop Close Game Against Chatham

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Mount St. Joseph women's lacrosse team hosted the Cougars of Chatham University in a Thursday night non-conference matchup. Both teams racked up over 20 goals and kept the game tight, unfortunately The Lions would fall behind and lose 27-22.

The Lions and the Cougars would equally exchange scoring all game allowing The Mount to have a slim lead at the half. As the beginning of the second half began the teams continued to swap goal for goal until the Cougars pulled away and were able to best The Lions with a final score of 27-22.

The Mount was led offensively by Megan Dancer (Springboro,Ohio/Springboro) who accumulated nine goals, an assist, seven ground balls and 11 draw controls. Joy Glacken (Cleves,Ohio/Taylor) would collect six goals for herself. Olivia Hocker (Liberty Township,Ohio/Lakota West) would make an appearance and earn herself a hat trick. Lainee Studer (Pleasant Plain,Ohio/Little Miami) would make her debut appearance and snag herself two goals and an assist. Ashley Costa (Milford,Ohio/Milford) would get one goal, as well as, an assist, seven ground balls, four draw controls and four caused turnovers. Paige Naber (Loveland,Ohio/Loveland) would make her mark on the score with a goal. Sara Winsted (Ross,Ohio/Ross) would start her second game in between the pipes and would keep The Lions competitive as she managed eight saves.

The Lions will be back in action Saturday, April 20 as they travel to Hanover College to take on the Panthers in a conference matchup. Continue to check MSJSports.com for more updates on the 2019 season!
