Lions tie in matchup with Wooster College

Location: John P. Papp Stadium (Wooster, OH)

The Basics:

The Lions traveled to take on the Wooster Fighting Scots in a non-conference matchup. Wooster struck first and kept the lead for the whole first half. The Lions scored the equalizing goal to start the second half. Neither team was able to find the goal again, even in overtime, resulting to a 1-1 tie.

How it Happened:

The Fighting Scots stunned the Lions with a goal in the first 11 seconds of the game off of a stolen pass. The Lions didn't let the mistake get them down as they continued to battle for a goal. The Mount continued their aggressive play but couldn't find the net going into the half. The Lions wasted no time finding the goal coming out of the half. Stefanie Autenrieb (Cincinnati, Ohio / Seton) headed the ball to the back of the net from a Jodie Wiemer (Cleves, OH / Taylor) corner kick in the 46th minute. Both teams continued to make strong plays on the goal but none of their opportunities would connect, leading to overtime. In the first overtime period both teams played great defense, countering each other's opportunities. After a scoreless first overtime both teams continued to play aggressively but their shots weren't connecting. The clock struck zero and neither team was able to make it on the board again, resulting in a 1-1 tie.

Autenrieb has been outstanding for the Lions offense, scoring her third goal of the season.
