In the "Looking Ahead" series each MSJ program will briefly wrap up the previous season and look to the future to let you know what to expect next season.
The Mount St. Joseph University women's track and field team will look to improve upon a 2015-16 season that saw the Lions finish 10th in the HCAC with most of the roster returning next year.
Heading into next season the Lions must replace graduates Marissa Chambers and Trinity Saner. Chambers was one of the Lions' most consistent performers last season. She placed in multiple events in every meet she participated in throughout last season. The Wilmington Invitational was probably Chambers' best showing last season. She finished 8th overall in the hammer throw, 11th overall in the javelin throw, and 9th overall in the discus throw.
Although the Lions lose two athletes who were solid throughout their careers at MSJU they also return the vast majority of their team from last season. Among those returning are Jasmyne Sexton, Dianna Mack, and Julia Cason, who were all consistent performers for The Mount in 2015-16. They will look to take their level of production up even further next season.
The return of most of the roster gives the Lions the experience they will need to compete in the HCAC next season. That, along with the incoming class of freshman athletes gives the team hopes of a bright future.
