Lexington, Ky – The Mount St. Joseph University track & field team opened up their outdoor season with a meet at Transylvania University. Two school records were broken en route to an 8th place finish from the women's and a 13th place finish by the men's.
Starting with the men's, Arvonte Neal (Florence, Ariz. / Florence) broke the school record in 110 meter High Hurdles with a time of 15.94, which was good for third place. Kevin Polking (Cincinnati, Ohio / St. Xavier) earned 7th place in the 3000 meter Steeplechase with a time of 11:24.76. Cameron Willis (Cincinnati, Ohio / LaSalle) placed 4th in the High Jump with a height of 1.88M and 9th in the 400 meter with a time of 51.28. Luke Danis (Yellow Springs, Ohio / Carroll) earned 7th place for his performance in the 5000 meter with a time of 16:47.
On the women's side, Anna Schoster (Cincinnati, Ohio / Seton) broke the school record in pole vaulting with a height of 3.50M to finish in 2nd place. She also earned 3rd place in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.40. Emma Roth (Cincinnati, Ohio / Lakota West) finished in 1st place in the 800 meter dash with a time of 2:27.50, the highest finish for the Lions. Maria Waters (Cincinnati, Ohio / Mercy) earned 4th place in the 1500 meter with a time of 5:15 and 7th place in the 5000 meter with a time of 20:05. In the discus throw, Kiersten Lux (Waldron, Ind. / Waldron) was able to earn 6th place with a distance of 34.85M.
