CINCINNATI- The Lions came in to Tuesday with momentum off a surprising start that no one was expecting. Early in the first set Senior right side Karlie Schell hit a tremendous milestone, she reached 1,000 career digs the game was stopped and the team was rejoicing in the glory of this milestone. The lions would go on to win that set 25-17. Spalding would try to keep it close as an intense 2nd and 3rd set set with lots of long rallies would wear down each athlete creating a compettitive atmosphere on the net.
Of course Karlie stole the show with a career milestone but she would tally up 14 digs on the night. Brooklyn Brunner would notch 20 digs into the stat line as she was 3 digs shy of her career high in a game. Brooke Aselage would continue her role of head of the offense as she had 13 kills and 4 errors on 38 attempts(.287 Kill%). Sam Buschur had 29 assists as well as gaining 3 kills on 6 attempts. The Lions would have an outstanding serving night as they would have 10 aces as a team (Buschur(4), Riley Gintert(3), Schell(2),and Aselage(1)). Makayla Chambers had two monster blocks which were the only two blocks by the Mount. Lions would steam roll to a 3-0 win over the Golden Eagles of Spalding.
The Lions will travel to Pitt-Greensburg to take on Pitt-Greensburg as well as Shenandoah. They will play at 12:00PM against Pitt-Greensburg and 2:00PM against Shenandoah.
